Painting is my passion.
I grew up in a creative, artistic family. Everyone was into drawing, painting and music. As a child I loved to draw portraits. I still do.
As an adult I started painting. I studied a short while at the well known Wackers Academy in Amsterdam, but most of my present skills are self-educated. I guess, I have read almost all books on painting techniques. I use oil paint as well as acrylic, mixed with materials such as sand, gems or nail polish.
As a career woman, founder and President of Metaplan Executive Search, I dedicated most of my time to my business. I painted during the scarce leisure time.
Now this successful enterprise is sold and I have my hands free to paint as much as I wish, inspired by grand painters like Isaac Israels, Jan Sluijters and Leo Gestel. Several famous colleagues took me under their wings, enabling me to develop my own style that is widely recognized by now.
Still my passion are portraits but I love painting landscapes and animals as well, usually in combination with a person.
Painting requires working according a plan. However, mostly my plans dissolve in the creativity of the spur of the moment. Via exhibitions my work finds its way worldwide.
As for me, I really enjoy teaching at my weekly El Rosario Art Class, located close to the authentic town of Marbella, Spain, overlooking the Mediterranean.
Each Monday afternoon I teach beginners and advanced painters; a mixture of cultures and nationalities. Their enormous progress I consider my crowning achievement.
